After FC Halifax Town’s 2-2 draw at Boreham Wood, forward Billy Waters spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game.

“It was a tough game in the first half,” Waters said. “We did well to get the first goal and then it is always disappointing to concede from a set-piece. I think we came out firing in the second half. We had the better of the second half and we managed to get the equaliser, so it was a good point away from home.”

The forward provided the assist for the opening goal after just 22 minutes. Despite taking the lead, the Shaymen struggled to get a foothold in the first half.

“I’ve squared it there,” Waters told Shaymen TV. “It was Bradder’s goal. I’ll be happy to just take the assist there, but it was definitely Bradder’s goal. It was then disappointing to go behind before half time, but the gaffer got into us and said we needed to be braver on the ball. I think we did that in the second half. The movement was better, and the passing was better.”

Waters then netted the final goal of the game to level the scores at 2-2 with 12 minutes left on the clock.

“It was a back stick, and no one was really there,” Waters said. “Luckily it fell to me, so I was delighted to get the goal. After we got the equaliser, I said to the boys that we should go for the winner. I felt like we had them on the ropes if we kept pushing. However, we were aware that when they played Bromley last Saturday, they nicked a last-minute goal. We were conscious about that.”

Town host Stockport County on Saturday with the visitors currently 10th in the league after a mixed start to the season.

“If we can back that up with three points on Saturday then that’ll have been a terrific week,” Waters said. “We know that Stockport have obviously got one of the biggest budgets in the leagues. They haven’t had the best start so it is definitely a game we are going into with a lot of confidence and hopefully we can get three points.”
