The Shaymen recorded a comfortable 3-1 victory over Southend United yesterday afternoon. Midfielder Kieran Green spoke to Shaymen TV after the match.ย

Green flourished in a dominant Halifax performance, and the game marked his first full 90 minutes of football in four months. “I felt good playing my first 90 minutes since the Chesterfield home game, last season,” Kieran said. “There’s a great squad unity here, with some fantastic players, so I’ve just got to take it as it comes and see whether I start or not.”

The midfielder went on to speak about the game itself with Southend and said; “I’m delighted with that result,” Green explained. “We did well at showing everyone the side of our game where we are good on the ball but also we showed that ugly side that we have got. So, we take the positives out of that, but also look at where we could have been better then go back to the drawing board on Monday – ready for the game on Tuesday.”

Once the Shaymen took a grip of the match, it became quite physical, something Green mentioned with him being a physical player. “We planned for it to be physical and we expected it to be,” Kieran stated. “We will never be worried about teams being physical with us because we know we can deal with it.”

Town will take a trip down to Hertfordshire for their next outing as they face Boreham Wood on Tuesday night, Kieran looked ahead to the game; “We start on Monday by doing our game plan – we will watch this Southend game back,” said Green. “It’s a cliche but we just have to go at it one game at a time and that’s all we need to do.”
