FC Halifax Town recorded a 3-2 away win over Woking yesterday afternoon, and the Gaffer spoke to Shaymen TV after the match.

Town went in front through Jesse Debrah before Jordan Maguire-Drew converted a penalty for Woking to pull a goal back. Then either side of the half time break, Martin Woods and Billy Waters put Town into a healthy 3-1 lead until George Oakley added a consolation goal for the hosts.

“I was pleased with how strong and resolute we were,” Wild said to describe his side. Before adding; “We are a good footballing side, but we also showed today that we can win games the ugly way. Overall, I thought we defended our own box well, and we won a good game.”

Wild then added specifically on one player and their performance in the game, speaking about the impressive debutant, Debrah.

“I didn’t realise Jesse had a left foot,” Wild jokingly said, he then continued by saying; “That goal was a great strike and it’ll do him the world of good. He’s a young centre half who’s finding his way in the game, and that today can only help.”

The Gaffer later switched his attention to the second and third goals for Town. “We got down well on the sides and got play into the box, and we then squared it for a finish – which we didn’t do last week,” Wild said for the second goal.

He then added on the third goal; “At half time, we said who ever dominated the first twenty minutes would win the game. We came out, scored straight off the back and we looked home and hosed.”

Wild ended the interview by giving an update on Jay Benn who was forced off. “Jay had cramp,” Pete explained. Before adding; “He has never played at a tempo like this before, so he’ll need time to get used to it, but these things will happen.”
