FC Halifax Town were defeated 3-0 away at an in-form Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday afternoon which saw the Shaymen drop out of the play-off positions and into 9th place with just two games remaining of the 2020/21 league season.

Town boss Pete Wild told Shaymen TV,โ€ I thought we started brightly, we kept our shape and we were nicking the ball back off them. I thought we were going to hurt them with some good chances. They have scored and we were frustrated with the goal, it was avoidable from our point of view. It was nip and tuck, and I am thinking letโ€™s stay in it. Kieran Green gets a chance to make it 1-1 and then they score on the stroke of half time to make it 2-0 and itโ€™s always going to be difficult and itโ€™s an uphill battle for the second half.โ€

Paul McCallum scored their second in first half injury time which was always going to make it difficult in the second half.

Wild said, โ€œWe said at halftime we had to have a go at them in the second half and itโ€™s easier sometimes to play when you are losing. I thought we played well but without causing them issues. They were better than us on the day, they scored their goals at good times.โ€

Town made three changes to the starting XI due to injury and suspension for the trip to Victoria Road.

โ€œIf you take away four potential starters from your starting XI itโ€™s going to be difficult, we are down to the bare bones. We have had to rely on some of the younger players. It is difficult and why I keep saying we are punching above our weight.โ€

Up next is our final away trip down to Maidenhead United next weekend.

Wild said, โ€œWe now look forward to Maidenhead, we have to take the lessons and roll up our sleeves for next week. We want to finish the season on a roll, and it will take a little bit of luck and holding our nerves. Hopefully get a result at Maidenhead next weekend.โ€

The Town coach departed the Shay on Friday morning whilst fans were getting tickets for the final home match of the season.

He concluded, โ€œIt was great to see everyone at the ground on Friday, the buzz around the ground was good. I would ask the fans to be patient and to respect what the lads have done this season and to remain positive in the last two weeks of the league season. As a collective, let us try to get the Club over the line now together.
