FC Halifax Town skipper Nathan Clarke spoke to Shaymen TV after the side went 2-0 up to be pulled back to a 2-2 draw with Sutton United.
Clarke gave a positive view on the draw with the league leaders saying, βToday was another tough game, we put ourselves in a great position in the first half β we dug really well. Of course, we changed formation and again with numbers missing, I think everyone stood up today and played up to the task.
βSutton are top of the league for a reason and they seriously do sling the ball into the box and cause hard work for the defenders and everyone else. But I am really pleased with how the team stood up to that and weβve got to take the positives β I thought we played really well but were unlucky not to hold on.β
Nathan later explained the good out of going toe-to-toe with the leaders; βI know we keep talking about the first half, but we got ourselves into some really good positions, likewise we did in the second half. But we should have seen the game out, we had some good opportunities, but a point against Sutton is good.β
One shining spark in the season so far has been Jack Earing who scored in the game which adds to an impressive season so far. As the Captain, Clarkey gave his feelings on Earing; βJack has been fantastic, I always knew he had it in him, because he was in and out of the team last season, but you could see his potential in training β heβs fast β probably the quickest in the team, heβs both footed and itβs fantastic heβs taken his chance. Hopefully, with another goal today he can keep that form.β
Nathan later spoke about his return from injury; βIβm really happy, itβs been a long time coming. I got the injury at their place β away at Sutton, and Iβm just delighted to be back playing. Initially just to be back training and then to force my way back into the team β itβs something Iβm really pleased with.β
He added; βThere was one point when I had the surgery, there was a question on whether I would get to play again and continue β but I am happy Iβve been able to do that. Iβve been working hard on the training ground to put myself in a good position.β
