The Shaymen recorded a 1-0 victory over Aldershot Town yesterday evening, making it six games unbeaten. Pete Wild spoke to Shaymen TV after the match.

Whilst speaking to Shaymen TV, Wild gave his thoughts on the game; “I was really pleased as the win was hard-fought. I thought we started really well on the front foot, whilst having a lot of chances in the opening passage of the game.

However, we then seemed to drop our levels – we over committed men which made us open to the counter-attack, and that is something we tried to address at half time. As the second half went on, we tried to change things and get a hold of the football, unfortunately Tahvon Campbell got injured but we then brought some young lads on and it was great exposure for them.”

Wild added on the injury sustained to Campbell, saying; “We don’t know much about the injury at this moment in time. But we will assess him over the next couple of days and see how he gets on and then take that onto the weekend.”

Turning attention back to the game, it was Jamie Allen’s second half strike which proved to be the difference between the two sides. Pete spoke about how important Jamie’s winning goal proved to be.

“It was massive, absolutely massive – we’ve won the last two games 1-0 and we’ve had to scrap for both of those wins. However, we had two clean sheets so it shows we can withstand pressure and then if we are given opportunities like today then we can take them.”

Wild later commented on the six games unbeaten, saying; “We are having a really good run of form and we’ve got to keep that going – chalk the games off and make sure this run takes us first and foremost to 50 points because that’s our first target. Once we get past 50 points we’ll see where we are then.”

The Gaffer concluded his post-match duties by looking ahead to the next game – away at Eastleigh.

“It’s another tough game, another big one as well. I thought they played well when they were here at the Shay, and we had to go toe-in-toe with them. But we will roll down there knowing the pressure is on them to beat us, and normally when the pressure is on the other side to beat us, we normally perform well.”
