FC Halifax Town made it three away wins in a row last night with a 2-1 victory over Notts County.

Goals from Jake Hyde and substitute Tahvon Campbell helped the Shaymen to their first victory at Meadow Lane since 1968.

Town boss Pete Wild told the official website, โ€œI was really pleased for the players for all the effort and commitment that they put into the game. They did not leave anything on the pitch and gave their all. We wanted to go toe to toe with one of the biggest sides in the league, the way the players implemented our game plan was brilliant.โ€

Town went ahead through Jake Hydeโ€™s second goal in two games and he was in the right place to profit from a good run from Jack Earing.

Wild said, โ€œWe have been working with Jack Earing, we have been asking him to drive at their heart of the defence when winning the ball, not going out wide and Jake Hyde is where we want him to be in the middle of the 6-yard box. I want him to be scoring goals like that. It is really pleasing with the goal as we have worked hard on it. In Jake Hyde, we wanted a proven goalscorer at the Club and we know what we get from him. We know we can get the ball to him and it will stick, we can get up field and he brings so much to our game including leadership.โ€

Town went into the break 1-0 up courtesy of Hydeโ€™s goal and had other good chances to have increased the lead.

โ€œWe had lots of chances to get the second goal in the first half, at the break my message was more of the same please. They probably thought we would not have been able to keep that going for 90 minutes and Notts County had a spell of possession but still didnโ€™t really hurt us, said the Town bossโ€.

The home side were awarded a penalty which was saved by Sam Johnson, but they only had to wait less than a minute for their equaliser.

โ€œI thought the penalty was very harsh, however it is a great save from Sam on his 200thย league appearance for the Club. They scored in what was the only time that we allowed Enzio Boldewijn to drive at us so that was disappointing. We were tired at that point and we changed the formation straight away to try to stay in the game. At 1-1 I thought can we stay in it, why not try to win it and I brought Tahvon on, those efforts normally do not work and with his first touch scores that goal. What a strike, I am really pleased for him as he has worked so hard, he will get a lot of confidence from the goal which is great.โ€

Town will be back in action on Saturday with Solihull Moors travelling to the Shay.

Wild concluded, โ€œOur worst enemy is complacency. We have so much work to do and Solihull is our only focus now. They areย like a wounded animal after last night. They will be desperate to put things right. We need to make sure we do not slip up on the pitch. Our home form needs to be better; we will be looking to address that over the next two games.
