FC Halifax Town made it back-to-back away wins with a 2-1 victory over Wealdstone on Saturday.

Town boss Pete Wild told the official website, β€œI was really pleased with the result, I thought we controlled the game from start to finish. However, we should have taken more of our chances, we have had 17 good chances and only scored 2. We must take our chances better, we stopped their three chances and 2 of them have come from direct freekicks.

The home side went ahead through Dennon Lewis’ first half goal,

Wild said, β€œWe must stop giving teams a goal start, we know that as a squad and we will continue to work on it. However, we show a lot of character, composure and we continue to hunt teams down. We keep showing we are one of the fittest teams in the League and it’s evident again today.

However, the Town boss felt his side should have had an early penalty for a challenge on Jeff King,

β€œI think it’s a definite penalty, why would he go down when he is through on goal. That was my discussion with the referee at half time. I thought their goal was offside by 5 yards and the linesman is not up with play. That was frustrating.”

Town won the game in the second half with goals from Jake Hyde and Jack Earing which pleased the manager.

β€œI had watched their last three games and I knew they would tire after 60 minutes, so if we could get a goal, we would have the chances to win the game. We got the result we thoroughly deserved, said Wild.”

Town were able to boost the squad with Billy Chadwick returning to the Club on loan from Hull City which was finalised yesterday.

β€œHull came to us and said we had first refusal which is great as it shows we are looking after their players. I cannot thank them enough for Billy coming back, we have him for an initial 30 days and hopefully can keep him longer than that. He is buzzing to be back; he made a real contribution when he came on.”

The turnaround could have been in jeopardy when Wealdstone had a penalty appeal in injury time which saw two of the home players go into the referee’s book for dissent.

β€œTheir appeals in injury time, I have seen them given but I think it balanced out for the one in the first half. We have the right result today and for me the better team won.

Now Town will look to focus on Notts County on Tuesday night,

We will go to Notts County now in midweek, we deserved the point at home to them earlier in the season, we need to show what a good team we are. The pressure is on them as the home team but hopefully we can get the right result again.
