FC Halifax Town suffered a Boxing Day defeat with a 3-1 away loss to Hartlepool United. Manager Pete Wild spoke to ShaymenTV after the game.

Wild began his interview by giving his thoughts on the match; “I thought the weather played a massive part in the game today, as I don’t think there was anything between the two sides all game. For their first goal, we didn’t deal with the wind and the corner well enough, but we were in the ascendency for the rest of the half.

“We came in level at half time, and comfortable – we thought we’d take over this game more in the second half. But we didn’t play the conditions properly in the second half nor did we create enough chances to win the game.

“They then got down the sides of us once and scored. That was probably the difference of the game that they were just better than us in the second half after we were better in the first half. Both teams were just cancelling each other out, and then they nicked it.”

Wild then specifically added on the latter part of the game which saw Hartlepool add a third goal and Nyal Bell getting his marching orders.

“For the third goal, we’re just chasing it after going down to ten men. I always thought at 2-1 we’d get chances, score and be fine. But we got done by a ridiculous decision that in the end cost us. Don’t get me wrong though, I said to Nyal in the dressing room for his first booking – kicking the ball away is poor and shouldn’t happen, but I back him all day long on the second booking.”

Town are back in action fast, as they host Altrincham tomorrow evening (Monday 28 December), the Gaffer gave his feelings on the team going into this game with Alty.

“I think we’ve had a really good month and the lads are implementing what we want from them – we look like a threat every time we go out and play.”
