New signing Billy Chadwick got off to the perfect start with a goal in normal time and a successful penalty in the shootout. He spoke to ShaymenTV about signing and his debut.

Chadwick was announced before the game as a Town player, signing on a short-term loan deal from Football League club Hull City.

The attacker started by giving his thoughts on joining the club; β€œI’m absolutely buzzing. I came on Thursday and everyone welcomed me as soon as I came in. Today I was just looking to hit the ground running, and I think I did well for myself – It’s good to be in the next round of the cup.”

Billy added on how the move came about; β€œMe and the Gaffer (Pete Wild) spoke about it a couple of weeks ago, and then I had to sign my contract at Hull first. As soon as I got my contract sorted, I was eager to come and sign.”

It was a brilliant start for the new Town loanee, getting a goal in normal time, in the penalty shootout and securing a win. Chadwick was in good mood as expected; β€œAs I say, I’m buzzing! I just want to play as many games as I can and then hopefully score more goals.”

Billy spoke through his goal in normal time, saying; β€œI followed it up from the big man, and it just dropped to me on my touch and I thought I’m hitting this. Luckily, it went into the far bottom corner.”

The 20-year-old then moved his attention onto the game overall; β€œWe started bright, I thought we looked unplayable at times in the first 20 minutes. We then did get sloppy, but the win is important, and it takes us into the next round.”

As mentioned, Chadwick also scored in the penalty shootout, and he touched upon this; β€œFunnily enough, I’ve been to penalties three times this season at Hull. I’ve gone the same way most times, and I thought I’ll pick my spot and go with it. I was just happy to see it hit the back of the net.”

The promising youngster ended the interview by assessing his hopes for his time at Halifax; β€œI just want to play and help the team as much as I can – then help us get as far up the league as possible.”
