FC Halifax Town ended a wonderful week with a commanding 5 v 1 win away to Weymouth at the Bob Lucas Stadium.ย  As the goals flowed against Barnet there were 1st goals of the season for Nyal Bell, Jake Hyde and Martin Woods.ย  On the South coast there were 1st goals of the season for Danny Williams, Niall Maher, Gevaro Nepomuceno and Tom Bradbury.

Pete Wild made one change to the starting line-up that destroyed Barnet in midweek with Kieran Green replacing Jack Earing and they picked up where they left off just 3 days earlier.

There was an early scare though Ollie Harfield bringing a fine save out of Sam Johnson in the first minute.ย  But the Shaymen soon took control with Luke Summerfield and Martin Woods pulling the strings in front of a dominant back line.ย  Nyal Bell signalled the attacking intentions with a 4th minute shot that went narrowly wide.ย  And it did not take long for the opening goal to arrive.ย  A fine passing move saw the ball break to Summerfield whose shot looped up in the air.ย  Danny Williams latched onto the loose ball, controlled it and volleyed home from close range for his first goal of the season.

Kieran Green looked to double the lead minutes later with a rampaging run and shot that was turned away for a corner by Jack Bycroft in the Weymouth goal.ย  Weymouth replied with a corner that Andy Robinson headed off target, but this was a rare foray into Halifax territory although Johnson was forced into another save to deny Shamir Mullings.

The 2nd goal was not long in coming.ย  A neatly worked corner saw Martin Woods corner partially cleared to Niall Maher who netted with the aid of a deflection. Another corner caused panic in the Weymouth defence and Jeff Kingโ€™s shot was cleared with Jake Hyde ready to pounce. As the half-ended King had another effort but failed to hit the target and Town headed to the dressing room with a 2-goal advantage.

Bell was off target with an early 2nd half shot before Weymouth countered with a few corners.ย  From a quickly taken short corner the hosts halved the deficit when Josh McQuoid rose to head home from close range.ย  The pressure continued with Andy Robinson fluffing his lines at the far post, but Town quickly regained control.

Gevaro Nepomuceno had only been on the field for a couple of minutes when Green surged forward and found the ex-Oldham man 20 yards from goal and his curling shot gave Bycroft no chance and restored the 2-goal advantage.

And the 4th goal were not long in coming.ย  A free kick broke to King on the right side of the penalty area and his superb low cross was turned home by Tom Bradbury at the back post. The 5th goal soon followed with Jack Senior who had replaced Danny Williams surged forward on the left side and his superb cross found Jake Hyde who headed home his 2nd goal in an FC Halifax Town shirt.

Town were not finished and looked for more goals with Hyde almost getting on the end of another Senior cross.ย  6 points and 10 goals in 3 days will make the long journey North home a happy one.
