FC Halifax Town beat Barnet 5-2 at the Shay Stadium in the Vanarama National League.

First half goals from Jeff King, Nyal Bell, and Jake Hyde were added to by Jack Earing and Martin Woods. Barnet managed two consolation goals but will head back to London with no points.

It took just over 20 seconds for Town to take the lead. Jack Earing picking up the ball in midfield before driving forward. A through ball found Jeff King sprinting into the box and his first time shot found the bottom corner.

As both teams looked to settle it was not until the 17th minute before the next big chance. A low deflected cross from Barnet caused some confusion in the Town defence. After a good block from Niall Maher, The Shaymen eventually shielded the ball out for a goal kick.

Halifax doubled their lead on the 22nd minute thanks to Nyal Bell on his home debut. Tom Bradbury made an excellent run down the left before floating a cross into the box. Bell rose highest to head past Scott Loach and make it 2-0.

Just before the half time break and Town had their third. Jake Hyde getting his first goal for the Shaymen. The cross came in and Hyde chested it down before sending it low into the bottom corner.

It did not take long for Town to get their fourth of the game. Just two minutes into the second half and Earing had his first of the game. A King shot from distance was well saved by Loach, however it fell perfectly to Earing who nodded past the keeper to make it 4-0.

Less than ten minutes later and The Shaymen made it five. Town won a free kick 20 yards from goal following a handball. Martin Woods fired a perfect strike, going in off the bar, leaving Loach no chance.

Just past the hour mark and Halifax won an indirect free kick inside the Barnet box following a pass back. The ball came to King who fired a powerful shot at goal. Loach got down well to save but spilled it to Nepomuceno who fired home. Unfortunately, the offside flag was up this time as the score remained 5-0.

Barnet earned a consolation just over 20 minutes from time. The ball fell to Muhammadu Faal who spun away from the Town defenders, before scuffing a low shot past Sam Johnson to make it 5-1.

With just seven minutes left on the clock, Barnet pulled a second back. Faal got into the box before getting a shot off. The shot deflected towards the back post and it fell to Inih Effiong who bundled it past Johnson.

This result sees the Shaymen jump to 16th, while Barnet drop to 20th. Town travel to Weymouth this Saturday, playing in front of the BT Sport cameras.
