Jamie Allen spoke to Shaymen TV about his thoughts following the 1-1 draw away at Barnet.

“I think it was a scrappy game. We knew that, when we came here, that it was going to be a battle. The pitch wasn’t great. We’ve had a lot of games, it was going to be tough on the legs for both teams, I think you could see out there. I think a 1-1 draw was a fair result, I thought we were the better team first half, but I think they probably took the second half, so I think a 1-1 draw is a fair result.”

Allen said he was “enjoying” playing in a more central role in recent games.

“I’m enjoying it. Any player will tell you that if you’re on the pitch playing, you’re happy. Obviously, I’ve played there a few times before in my career, I’ve been up front and a wide player, but if I’m playing and getting minutes under the belt, I’m happy.”

Allen was also pleased with the confirmation that Jack Redshaw and Charlie Cooper had committed their futures to the club until the end of the season.

“Obviously you don’t need me to tell you that it’s a massive boost that we’re keeping hold of Jack and Chas. You’ve seen what they bring today, Jack’s got the goal again, so it’s a massive, massive boost for us going forward.”

And regarding the possibility of continuing deep into the FA Trophy next week against Torquay, Allen said;

“Obviously we want to go on a cup run, we’re gonna prepare right, obviously we’re gonna rest now because I think it’s really needed. We’re gonna get back to work, train and prepare for Torquay and like you say, get a decent cup run.”
