Pete Wild was disappointed that FC Halifax Town gave themselves too much to do in their 4-2 defeat at home to Torquay United in the Vanarama National League.
The Shaymen conceded two early goals against their promotion-chasing visitors, but went on to create a plethora of chances, scoring two, only to be undone by two goals conceded against the run of play in the second-half.
Wild spoke to Shaymen TV immediately after the match to discuss the game, Jack Redshawβs debut, and Townβs future plans.
On conceding early goals:
βThey were two cheap goals to give away early doors. Youβre trying to get in the game at 2-0 down. You canβt give goals away like that and expect to win the game. Torquay are certainly going to be up there at the end of the season. I thought we did alright with the ball first half but didnβt really go anywhere. At half-time we told them we needed more, we came out second-half, and itβs great when you do start winning those battles.β
On chasing the game:
βWhen youβre chasing the game, youβre open to the counter. They hit us with a third and a fourth when weβre trying to get back into the game. It doesnβt help when you need goals at 2-0 down. Itβs really frustrating as weβve had enough chances to win the game 6-4. We havenβt been creating enough chances at home, but we did enough now.β
On Jack Redshawβs debut:
βJack will offer us goals, maybe what weβve been lacking. We just need to get him up to match sharpness. With our little break, weβll make sure come Woking, both Jack and the squad will be ready.β
On a short break ahead of Woking:
βWeβll welcome the break, especially after this week. Itβll gather us together and get us ready for the Christmas run in that will take us up to around 30 games. It has been a tough but an enjoyable 20 games. I think everybody now is steady, going to remain grounded, and weβll see where that takes us.β
