FC Halifax Town impressed in-front of the BT Sport cameras as Pete Wilds men won 2-0 away from home. After the game Shaymen TV caught up with man of the match Cameron King. The number 10 was back in the starting 11 and began with his analysis of his performance.

“I got the two goals, but I think I could have played better for the whole 90 minutes personally. I think in the second half we sat back and invited pressure which is frustrating. Sometimes that is how games go and you just must absorb the pressure. We’ve got a solid back four with big Sam in goal, we know we are going to be alright.”

King got the first of his two goals on the 10-minute mark. Here is his point of view of the goal.

“It was a counter-attack, we knew we were going to be dangerous on the counter-attack, we’ve got a lot of pace going forward. Liam got a great ball into me and I saw a one-v-one opportunity. I took him on the outside and just snuck it underneath the goalie. I was shocked when I saw the ball roll into the back of the net, but a goal is a goal.”

A goal early in the game against a good opposition away from home was the message from the changing room.

“We need to start well. An early goal would be massive, it would lift the lads. Especially after some of the frustrating results we’ve had recently. We needed an early goal; we got that early goal and that is what took us forward today.”
King’s second goal game in added time and it is one to check out, with the keeper in no-man’s land.

“I tried to catch him off before, but I didn’t connect with it at all. He’s a sweeper keeper, they were 1-0 down so he’s going to be on the edge of the box. I knew as soon as I hit it, it was going to cause him problems. When it bounced, I thought it might have gone over but luckily enough it went in the back of the net.”

Next up is another away day to Maidenhead. King expects more of the same in the next week.

“We’ve got a lot of away trips coming up, it is going to be tiring with a lot of time on the road. It takes its toll on you, but we’ve just got to continue to give it everything we’ve got. We are going to head into the game with confidence. We’ve got a full week’s rest now, which is pleasing and I’m looking forward to it.”
