FC Halifax Town defender Nathan Clarke spoke to Jake Broderick after the 1-1 draw away to Aldershot Town yesterday

Jake: A good point in the end today Nathan?

Nathan: Yeah, you could look at it like that I guess, but the standard certainly dropped today. It was a horrific start and certainly first half we weren’t up to it at all, and some decent stern words were said at half time, but we know we’re a good group and when things aren’t going our way, we’ve got to sometimes ride it out, away from home you’ve got to be stronger than what we were, be a bit braver on the ball, but yeah it’s something we’ve got to learn from and again it’s a young group and hopefully we can do that quickly and look forward to the games coming up.

Jake: So, how would you compare the team’s performance today, with the game against Wrexham on Tuesday?

Nathan: I’m not too sure, I think, certainly in the Wrexham game, we played well in good spells, obviously we got done with that sucker punch of a goal for them, but then first half we had to ride it out, withstand a lot of pressure, like today. Yeah, it’s one of them, we need to be more clinical, I think we got in very good positions high up the pitch, some good areas and possibly one or two touches too many and you know we got to learn to get the shot off and when the opportunities there I guess.

Jake: The team struggled to find the net till late on, would you say the point was deserved in the end?

Nathan: I think so, we were a lot stronger second half, we pushed forward, we were desperate to keep driving forward, I don’t remember them having too many chances, one fizzed across the box late on, but other than that, second half we were the ones pushing forward. Like I said before if we took our chances a little bit earlier, we could’ve come away with something different, but we’ve got to take the point and look forward to the next game now.

Jake: So, onto AFC Fylde next week now, what’s your thoughts on that game?

Nathan: Looking forward to it, again they’ve been tipped to be up there, we’ve got to see whereabouts we are with that, confidence wise we’ve got to take the last 20 minutes where we were pushing forward and got the goal, hopefully we carry that on into the next game.
