FC Halifax Town were held to a 2-2 draw on Saturday against Bromley. Manager Jamie Fullarton spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game.

He said: โ€œAs you get to this stage of the season, with two teams that are in mid-table, thereโ€™s a risk or a thought that it could peter-out. In todayโ€™s game there was enough action in both boxes. In one of the boxes I was pleased to see us creating the amount of chances we did. We were looking a threat. Uncharacteristically, weโ€™ve conceded two goals that arenโ€™t and havenโ€™t been prevalent in most weeks of the season. Weโ€™re always disappointed when we donโ€™t win the game, but we try to look a little bit deeper. The second half, when we change the shape. In terms of in possession and working possession, we had a spell of about 25 minutes that we were good in many aspects. Unfortunately, when you take the lead twice, especially with how we defend and work as a team, we expect to win the game.โ€

Town took the lead after Josh Staunton capitalised on a mistake by David Gregory. Fullarton is happy to see the goals coming in no matter the circumstances.

He said: โ€œYouโ€™ve got to take advantages of mistakes, and we did that. In the first half it was edgy both ways. There werenโ€™t many chances created by either side. It seemed to spring into life in the second half. With their goalkeeper making three or four excellent saves. Iโ€™d like to see the offside one again to see if he was offside. Iโ€™d like to see the penalty incident again just to confirm whether it was or not. There was enough excitement and enjoyment Iโ€™d suggest for the fans who watched the game.โ€

Both sides looked to create more chances in the second half with the Shaymen creating plenty. Fullarton was pleased to see the team creating these chances.

He said: โ€œWe did change the shape. It seemed to work in terms of ball retention, and we did look comfortable. We probed regularly which resulted in many chances. Weโ€™re at the stage now where weโ€™re looking for marginal gains. Weโ€™re looking to get to that next stage as a group, a team, and club. To be challenging in the top half of the table, round the playoffs and to do that, weโ€™ve got to win games like today. We did enough to win the game. Itโ€™s when we are uncharacteristic like today, itโ€™s meant weโ€™ve taken one point instead of the three our performance deserved.โ€

Looking ahead, Town travel to Hartlepool United on Good Friday, before facing Wrexham at home on Easter Monday. Fullarton is ready for the upcoming form and believes the players can continue to perform.

He said: โ€œThe games come thick and fast. From October to January, you talk about April and you think itโ€™s a long way away. You hit February and suddenly, weโ€™ve got two weeks left of the season and three important games. I think today, how we were, and the players went about the game, it tells you how we are going to be. Hartlepool away and Wrexham at home which are great games over that Easter weekend. Then to finish with Fylde.โ€
