FC Halifax Town put in a very good performance to beat title-chasing Solihull Moors 2-0 at the MBI Shay Stadium.

After the game, Shaymen TV spoke to Niall Maher to get his thoughts on the game.

โ€œWe knew going into the game it was going to be a fairly difficult game, obviously, they are a big side and at the top of the table. But we knew if we stuck together, we would have a chance at going on and winning it and thatโ€™s what we did.โ€

The two goals were scored by loan signings Devante Rodney and Manny Duku, the two have really impressed so far.

โ€œWe bought in pace and power up front in Devante (Rodney) and Manny (Duku) and thatโ€™s what we were lacking in the middle part of the season. Weโ€™ve bought the two of them in, and ever since theyโ€™ve come in, theyโ€™ve done very well and itโ€™s paying off for us.โ€

โ€œTheyโ€™ve both settled in really well. Theyโ€™re both brilliant lads and in training, they work hard. We have all seen it and the fans have seen they can do it on a Saturday and thatโ€™s all we can ask from them.โ€

Lee Vaughan was sent off for a high tackle on Matty Kosylo just before the half time whistle, Maher gave us his thoughts.

โ€œIt was a silly challenge and I think the lad (Vaughan) knows that himself and Matty (Kosylo) has actually done well to avoid any serious damage. I thought we were comfortable most of the game. Whether they had 11 or 10 I was still confident we were going to beat them.โ€

Another clean sheet for the Shaymen as Matty Brown and co boasts one of the best defensive records in the league. Maher tells us the faith he has in the ability of his side.

โ€œWe have the confidence that we can keep clean sheets. The back five including Sam (Johnson) and then the midfield lot, which sometimes we donโ€™t get the credit we deserve. We are working hard, stopping goals and chances and it is paying off. We just need to continue to score more.โ€

Josh Staunton came into the starting 11 for his first league start since December meaning Maherโ€™s position slightly changed, he was perfectly happy for that to happen.

โ€œYeah my position has slightly changed but I am learning different roles. Wherever the manager puts me I am going to give 110% and I always do.โ€

Finally, The Shaymen have to more home games coming up. One on Tuesday against Ebbsfleet and another next Saturday versus Maidenhead.

โ€œItโ€™s another two home games and the way weโ€™re looking at it, it is another two possible victories before we even get Saturday in our head though, weโ€™ll look at Tuesday first.โ€
