After the postponement two weeks ago, this was the first meeting of the season between the two sides. On a Perfect Day AFC Halifax would have had more players available but should have entered the fixture full of confidence after recent performances and results but this wasnโ€™t a time for Yesterdayโ€™s Heroโ€™s. Luders had picked up Lou with his card and Pencil Full of lead arriving just in time for kick off. AFC started with an old-school 4-4-2 and with JB naming himself on the bench alongside Stanley. Small age difference.

The home side started well getting in down the right on a couple of occasions. Andy Littlefair had the Chance to give AFC the lead but his shot was saved by the keeperโ€™s legs. Then a pull back fell to Ben Fawkes who put it narrowly wide on his left foot. The best chance came when a ball from the left fell to Andy in the middle of the box who was clipped as he shot. No pen. Still 0-0.

Bury had a chance when a ball was played through but Dave saved well with his legs. It wasnโ€™t really Against All Odds but Bury did take the lead midway through the first half. As the half wore on, Buryโ€™s 16 was causing problems going forward but Fawkesy and Luders did a good job defensively.

Half-time. AFC not at their best and or playing too much football but definitely โ€˜Alive and Kickingโ€™. A few tactical tweaks followed, including Stanley Comin On for Nathan who had an excellent half pressurising the Bury defence and putting them under constant pressure.

Second half and AFC never started – too many long balls, diagonals and misplaced passes as common as Ducks on a Pond. So it was not a great surprise when Bury did double their lead, a ball into the box fell kindly and they were able to put it into the top corner.

They had the chance to make it 3 when they got in down the left but somehow missed when it looked easier to score. Adie struggled to play the ball Right down the line and instead kept kicking it over various fences. Fine (s).

Mountains would need climbing now but AFC were too busy falling down them. They did make it 3 and then 4 and that was Good night girl.

Finally, AFC were able to put some passes together and Stanley was played in down the left but could only shoot wide. A couple of free-kicks were won on the edge of the box after good footwork from Martin and Ben but both put were put over.

AFC did get some Dignity when Fawkesy played a corner short to Luders who curled it in to the top corner with his left foot. Skill that didnโ€™t befit Halifaxโ€™s 2nd half performance. Hallelujah the final whistle. A poor day at the office overall after some promise in the first-half and Bury the deserved 4-1 winners.

AFC need to Come together ahead of next weekโ€™s game against Chester.
