Loanee striker Scott Quigley scored his first goal for the Shaymen, which proved to be the winning goal against relegation threatened Maidstone United on Tuesday.
The 1-0 victory now means FC Halifax Town have further breathing space from the relegation zone as they are five points safe in the Vanarama National League. The former New Saints forward commented:
“It has been a sticky patch, especially since I have been here, but I think it is a ‘monkey’ of the back for the lads to get three points against Maidstone United who were down there with us.
“Hopefully now we can start climbing up the table.”
Quigley who joined on loan until the end of the season from his parent club Blackpool discussed his first goal and form after the match:
“It is a massive ‘monkey’ of my back, it hasn’t quite clicked for me so far being at a new team.
“The first chance I had when Kosylo played it back and the keeper saved it, I thought that this wasn’t going to be my night again.
“I always have it my head to keep going and I was thankful to be able to get another chance… I got on the end of it and put it away.”
Moving ahead on whether this goal can be a catalyst for Quigley to find bolster his goal scoring account, Quigley commented:
“Hopefully that is the one that will kick me on now, it is what I needed and wanted
“I have to keep going, keep my head down and recover properly.
“I am looking forward to the future and cracking on.”
FC Halifax Town will next face another relegation threatened Havant & Waterlooville at the MBi Shay Stadium this Saturday.
