FC Halifax Town left it late to record their first win of 2019 with a 1-0 victory away at Maidstone United this evening.

On loan striker Scott Quigley’s 86th minute strike proved to be the difference which sees Town move up to 15th in the table.

Town boss Jamie Fullarton made two changes to the starting XI with Dayle Southwell returning following injury and James Hardy making his first start following his loan move from AFC Fylde.

However Southwell’s evening wasn’t going to last long as he collided with Maidstone goalkeeper Dion Henry. The home keeper was stretchered off the pitch which gave a Stones debut to Chris Lewington and Southwell was replaced by Quigley a few minutes later.

Town were hit with another injury below with Ben Tomlinson needing to be replaced before the break with Jordan Preston coming on.

James Hardy had a shot saved by Lewington following Town’s first corner being cleared out to him

Jack Powell had a shot wide from 20 yards out before Cassidy from a cross found it’s way to Sam Johnson

Quigley had the chance to put Town ahead one on one with the keeper but fired straight at Lewington, the home side had efforts from Dan Meredith and Elliott Romain but couldn’t find a way past Johnson.

Town defender Nathan Clarke hit the post with a header from a corner, Matty Brown headed wide as Town looked for that elusive goal.

Substitute Jonathan Edwards had a couple of chances but the win was sealed when Quigley capitalised with his show into the far corner.

Jordan Preston could have doubled the lead but his effort came back off the bar but Town will be pleased to have got the win tonight.
