FC Halifax completed a two-goal comeback yesterday as they drew 2-2 with Solihull Moors and now will go again on Tuesday night in a replay for a place in the third round of the FA Trophy.

The Moors scored two goals in the first twelve minutes of the second half through Adi Yussuf and Nathan Blissett. Just after the hour mark Dayle Southwell lobbed Ryan Boot perfectly to pull one back and Matty Kosylo completed the comeback with his free kick seven minutes from time.

After the game Cameron King spoke to Shaymen TV about his teams never say attitude.

“Of course, coming on 2-0 down with a nothing to lose attitude. So, we just had to get the ball down and just be more positive with it and I like to think that’s what I brought to the table. When we got back into the game at 2-2, I still thought we could come away with the win.”

King then spoke about the team’s performance and the beginning on each half.

“We started slowly in the first half and the second half and we know that. So, we’ve got to put that right if we stand any chance of winning these types of games, we can’t switch off in games like that. To be the fair the boys the last half an hour they were brilliant.”

Two quick goals from Solihull at the beginning of the second half could have thrown second half plans out the window but King tells us that panic didn’t set in.

“We know how we want to play. It was just a matter of us relaxing on the ball and playing how the manager wants us to play and it took us to 60 minutes to really liven up and after that it was really all one way.”

King returned to first team duties this week after missing the festive period through injury and he told us how pleased he is to be back in action on match days.

“Delighted to back, I don’t like missing games especially over Christmas, I must have missed seven or eight games which is really frustrating. But injuries in football happen and luckily for me I’m okay now, I wouldn’t say I’m fully fit because of my fitness levels but my knee is strong and I’m now just looking forward to playing again.”

Making his comeback an hour into the game King gave us his thoughts on his performance.

“I just try to be as positive as I can when I get the ball, try and make things happen. Dayle took his chance well and that really lifted us. As I said all I can do is just try get on the ball as a number 10 and get it out wide to Kosylo and Dayle and they’ll make things happen.”

With a quick turnaround for the replay this Tuesday, you would be forgiven in thinking both teams could really do without the replay. But King is looking forward to getting back out on the pitch.

“I can do with it, I need the game. Everyone wants to win as many games as they can. Of course, we’ve had a lot of games recently but so have they. We’re going to go there and try do the exactly same today and try and win the game.”
