FC Halifax Town came from behind to salvage a 2-2 draw against Solihull Moors.

Second half goals from Adi Yussuf, Nathan Blissett, Dayle Southwell, and Matty Kosylo mean a replay will be needed.

Solihull Moors had the first chance of the game as Matt Stenson beat Michael Duckworth, but his shot went into the empty South Stand. Another chance fell for Solihull Moors as Matt Stenson dinked a cross into the box. No one was on the end of it and the cross went narrowly wide of the far post.

The first chance for Halifax fell for Nathan Clarke. Southwell swung in a cross and found Clarke at the back post. Clarke couldn’t keep his header down and the chance went begging. Only moments later and Halifax had another chance. This time James Berrett chipped a ball into the box but Matty Kosylo’s header was weak, giving Ryan Boot an easy save.

The breakthrough came just two minutes after the break curtesy of Adi Yussuf. Darren Carter made a good run into the box, who picked out Adi Yussuf in the middle. Yussuf had the goal at his mercy as he put it in the back of the net.

Solihull doubled their lead on 58 minutes A low cross from Matt Stenson fell to the feet on Nathan Blissett who slotted home with ease.

On the hour mark Town made their first substitution as Cameron King returned from injury to replace Jordan Preston. A glimmer of hope for the Shaymen as Southwell pulled one back. An outrageous effort from 20 yards saw him chip the keeper to make it 2-1.

Solihull made their first substitution after 70 minutes as Jamey Osbourne replaced Luke Maxwell. The second shortly followed as Danny Wright came on for Matt Stenson. Halifax’s second substitution came on 77 minutes as Scott Quigley was replaced by Jonathan Edwards.

As Halifax increased the pressure, substitute Jonathan Edwards was brought down just outside the box. Up stepped Kosylo who fired the ball into the back of the net. Goalkeeper Boot got his hand to it, but it wasn’t enough to stop the shot.

Solihull made their final change as Adi Yussuf came off for Jermaine Hylton. With four minutes added time, it appeared that Town would be the only winners. However, there was no time for a winner as the scores remained 2-2.

Despite late chances for the Shaymen, it remained 2-2 and a replay is required. The replay will happen on Tuesday the 15th January at Damson Park.
