New Yearโ€™s Day saw eleven Vanarama National League fixtures played alongside FC Halifax Townโ€™s action-packed 1-1 draw with Harrogate Town to kickstart 2019.

The first game of the day saw AFC Fylde face a home fixture against Barrow, which followed on from their 1-1 draw at Holker Street on Boxing Day. Neither side were able to collect all three points however, as the two sides played out another draw โ€“ this time it was 0-0.

Aldershot Town and Maidenhead United played out the second and only other 0-0 draw of the day, which was played at Aldershotโ€™s Recreation Ground.

The Hive saw the third draw of the day, as Barnet drew 1-1 with Boreham Wood. Ephron Mason-Clark put Barnet 1-0 up after 65 minutes, but Boreham Woodโ€™s Bradley Ash had other ideas, with his 85th minute penalty getting his sideโ€™s equaliser.

Ebbsfleet United managed to put four goals past Braintree for the second time in six days, though this time they managed to keep their Essex based opposition goalless. Cody McDonald and Michael Cheek put United 2-0 up in the first half, whilst Cheekโ€™s second goal and an effort from Corey Whitely secured the 4-0 victory for The Fleet.

The game played between Eastleigh and Havant & Waterlooville ended up finishing 2-1 to The Spitfires. Reda Johnson put Eastleigh 1-0 up after 56 minutes, before Hassan Jalloh equalised in the 82nd minute, just five minutes after came off of the bench in place of Tyler Frost. This period of the score being level would only last three minutes however, as Josh Hare scored just three minutes later to ensure that Eastleighโ€™s fans would be going home happy.

The Vanarama National Leagueโ€™s two north east clubs, Hartlepool United and Gateshead, clashed again just as they did on Boxing Day; this time the fixture was to be played at Hartlepool. Liam Noble gave United the lead just seven minutes into the game through his penalty, though Myles Anderson would later level the score in the 61st minute through his own goal. Just five minutes later however, Paddy McLaughlin ensured that Hartlepool would avenge their Boxing Day defeat to Gateshead with his goal to secure the 2-1 victory for his side.

League leaders Leyton Orient were out for revenge after their shock Boxing Day defeat to fellow London side Dagenham & Redbridge, and they managed to get the revenge they desired through a 1-0 victory. Macauley Bonneโ€™s goal for Orient in the 32nd minute was the only goal in this one.

Kent rivals Dover Athletic and Maidstone United played each other at Maidstoneโ€™s Gallagher Stadium. Doverโ€™s Jamie Allen managed to get the only goal of the game in the 86th minute to give The Whites victory over their rivals.

Boxing Day saw Salford lose 5-1 away at Wrexham, and as such Graham Alexanderโ€™s side will have been looking for revenge. They managed to achieve this with a 2-0 victory at home to the Welsh side; goals came through new signing Matt Green in the 23rd minute and Rory Gaffney in the 60th minute.

Solihull Moors and Chesterfield played out a 2-2 draw at Damson Park, the home of Solihull. The Moors took the lead in the 36th minute through Jermaine Hylton, though Marc-Antoine Fortune would later get Chesterfieldโ€™s equaliser in the 47th minute. Just two minutes later however, Alex Gudger would give Solihull the lead once again, but it wasnโ€™t to be as Lee Shaw gave Chesterfield their second equaliser of the afternoon in the 68th minute.

There was late drama in the only late kickoff of the day, as Bromley scored late on to achieve victory over fellow London side Sutton United. Kenny Davis gave Sutton the lead in the 11th minute, though JJ Hooper got Bromleyโ€™s equaliser in the 34th minute. Bromleyโ€™s victory was later secured in the 89th minute through Jake Goodman, who scored in the same minute that he came onto the pitch, giving Bromley the 2-1 win.
