FC Halifax Town went were unable to add momentum to their mid-week win after they lost 1-0 to Eastleigh in the Vanarama National League.

Josh Hareโ€™s goal was the only difference between the sides as he rose highest in the box to head home Mark Yeatesโ€™ free kick.

Both sides really struggled to break down each other in what was quite a cagey affair. One of the only chances in the half came very early on when Matty Kosylo fouled his man right on the edge of the box. Mark Yeates, who was the Eastleigh danger man throughout, hit the free kick and it was Matty Kosylo blocking it in the wall.

The next real chance came on the half an hour mark. Yeates again creating a chance for himself worked a space on the edge of the box and hit a wonderful shot which would have been destined for the top corner. Sam Johnson got across his goal well and made an acrobatic save to keep the score at 0-0.

The Shaymen played some nice football in the middle of the park but really struggled to get through the Spitfires defence. However, a lovey team move saw Hanson in a great chance to cross the ball, however, the final ball was lacking the quality required.

The real moment of the half came straight after that lovely move from the home side. Williamson beat the offside trap but fired his shot straight at Johnson. The rebound fell to Yeates, his volley was blocked. That rebound then fell to Gobern 2 yards from goal, but Ryan Sellars was there to block the shot off the line.

Early in the second half and Town started off much better. Cameron King got the better of two men on the right-hand side and continued to make his way towards goal.ย  He squared to find a man in blue in the middle but unfortunately Edwards and Southwell got in each otherโ€™s way. The ball did still fall to Kosylo on the edge of the box, but his shot deflected over the bar.

The breakthrough was made in the 58th minute. Despite making the better start to the half, Halifax went behind. A perfectly delivered free kick by Mark Yeates was headed home by Josh Hare.

Not long after the goal Dayle Southward played a lovely ball over the top to put Edwards through on goal. However, the number ten delayed his shot for too long and Alex Wynter made a great recovery tackle. A couple of minutes later Kosylo turned his man on the edge of the box but couldnโ€™t get the shot away.

A lengthy stoppage in the second half occurred after Joe Skarz picked up a nasty head injury which saw him stretchered off the pitch. Sanmi Odelusi was his replacement.

A lovely break from his own box saw Jacob Hanson run the length of the pitch to play Kosylo in. The wideman tried to square the ball to Edwards who was unmarked in the 6-yard box but a good recovery tackle prevented the striker to tap into an empty net.

Joe Jones was introduced in the 87th minute and instantly saw himself go into the book for a foul on Odelusi.

Halifax had a great chance to level in the last minutes of the game. Matty Kosyloโ€™s cross found Staunton at the back post unmarked. The man who had been moved into CB after Skarzโ€™s injury volleyed over the bar from 5 yards out.

The final action of the game saw Eastleigh captain Danny Hollands go into the book after he committed a numerous number of fouls throughout the game.

Halifax were unable to create any more chances with the away side making sure they held out for the 1-0 win.
