An away day to forget for FC Halifax Town as they lose horribly 3-0 to Aldershot Town at The Recreation Ground. Aldershot Town took their chances in the first half with Adam May and Adam McDonnell made it two at half time. Jake Gallagher’s early goal in the first half made it three and FC Halifax Town struggled to take their chances and get back into the game.

The game started very open from both teams, and Kyle Wootton making his first start for the Shaymen, came up with the first chance as the ball was whipped into the box and found the head of Wootton but he couldn’t keep it down and headed the ball over the bar.

Aldershot found the net and the first goal of the game on the 8th minute as a ball was sent out wide to Adam McDonnell who found Adam May perfectly on the edge and he smashed the ball into the top corner to take Aldershot’s first chance of the game, which sent them into the lead.

Not long after, Aldershot made their second chance count. Aldershot sent a perfect cross in the box and the ball found Adam McDonnell who couldn’t miss and tapped the ball into the net to make it two for Aldershot.

FC Halifax Town should’ve been back into the game shortly after. Berrett whipped in a free kick which found Nathan Clarke free from six yards out, but he can’t get a clear header on the ball and it came off the side of his head and the ball was narrowly wide, which would’ve brought the Shaymen right back into the game.

The Shaymen’s work rate showed in the first half but they struggled to take any of their chances. They kept up the pressure throughout the first half but couldn’t shorten the lead for Aldershot who taken the chances they were given.

We knew we needed a response early in the second half, but the early goal came from Aldershot, who made it three. A cross was whipped into the box, Sam Johnson was there to punch the ball, but his punch was mishit, and the ball found Jake Gallagher’s head and he made it three with an easy goal for Aldershot.

Minutes later came the Shaymen’s best chance of the game, Dayle Southwell was put through where he rounded Aldershot Keeper Jake Cole, he then shoots and thought he found the net, but Aldershot defender gets back to clear the ball and make a fantastic clearance. Southwell protested the goal as he thought it was clearly over the line, the referee disagreed, and his actions made him receive a yellow card.

Aldershot seemed to be happy to settle with the 3-0 result which limited their chances in the rest of the game. The Shaymen kept up the fight with Dayle Southwell coming close with another chance slightly going over the bar.

It proved not to be the Shaymen’s day with a Jordan Preston strike somehow not going in and the ball coming off the bar. Unlike Aldershot we couldn’t find the net and get a goal today.

Jordan Preston came off the pitch last minute of the game with an injury, which we hope is just a precaution.

No wins in eight games now for the Shaymen which sees them drop down to 13th place in the table on 20 points. Aldershot’s win sees them rise to 18th in the table, three points behind FC Halifax Town.

Next up for the Shaymen is Chesterfield at the MBI Shay Stadium, next Saturday on the 13th October. The game will be broadcasted on BT Sport at a later 5:15pm kick off, even though the game is on TV, we hope to see you all down to the MBI Shay Stadium supporting the lads!
