FC Halifax Town’s U19’s started off their new campaign in the right way after a home victory against Darlington.

The three points allows Town to sit on their victory for a whole week as next up the U19’s travel far north to Carlisle United, Kick Off is at 2pm.

Matthew Rowson, Jean-Jacques Kirongozi and Mohammed Subhani all made their first appearances for Halifax, after another flurry of academy players graduating from the programme means vacancies were to be filled.

Town grabbed a late winner after debutant Kirongozi drove down the right flank and crossed in hard and low, the Darlo ‘keeper spilled the ball into the path of Jake Taylor, who snatched at the error and put Halifax 1-0 up in the dying embers of the game.

Town dominated all afternoon and threatened the Darlington back line various amounts of times and struggled to make their domination count until late on when the Shaymen got their winner.
