After a defeat in midweek, FC Halifax Town got back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Dagenham & Redbridge. The Shaymen sat 4th in the league coming into the match whereas The Daggers languished towards the bottom in 23rd place after only taking one point from a possible twelve.

It was almost the perfect start to the game for The Shaymen as they dominated possession and Dayle Southwell could have put his side into the lead within the opening 5 minutes. His volley was well saved and pushed behind for a corner. From the resulting corner, Niall Maher managed to get his head to the ball and rocketed a shot goalwards, but it was deflected behind for another corner.

Dagenham & Redbridge had a couple minutes where they looked to have finally settled down. They almost went ahead themselves after a superb free kick from Alex McQueen on the quarter of an hour mark. However, Sam Johnson pulled off a highlight reel save as he flew through the air and tipped the ball over the crossbar.

The Shaymen managed to regain control of the match as they created a couple of chances but nothing was too troubling for The Daggers shot stopper.

Matty Kosylo took it upon himself to break the deadlock on the half hour mark. A hoofed clearance from Ben Tomlinson fell kindly for Kosylo who sped down the left wing, cut inside onto his right foot and beat Elliot Justham at his near post.

The goal was much deserved but it had seemed to wake the visitors up. Dagenham & Redbridge were only behind for five minutes as they scored an equalizer through Tomi Adeloye.

Lamar Reynolds had looked troubling and his cross into the box was headed down by Chike Kandi. The Town defenders were unable to clear the ball after a goal mouth scramble and Adeloye poked the ball into the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1.

Dagenham continued to be on front foot after the goal as they looked to score from exact same passing move. However, they did almost take the lead through what would have surely been a goal of the season contender.

A freekick was floated towards the back post where Ben Goodliffe produced a scorpion kick that lobbed Sam Johnson but went just wide of the post.

It was a scrappy opening to the second half with neither team managing to assert their dominance.

Early in the second half, Sam Johnson was again on hand to deny Dagenham & Redbridge going in front. A glancing header from Kandi was heading for the top corner but Johnson was able to get his fingertips to it and push it round the post.

Just after the hour mark, Jonathan Edwards would have given Town the lead but he was denied by an unbelievable reaction save from Justham. From the resulting corner, he did score. Nathan Clarkeโ€™s header was fired towards goal and Edwards got the final touch to make it 2-1.

Dayle Southwell almost made it 3-1 when he managed to volley a pass that was chested down in the box by Ben Tomlinson. Tomlinson was brought down and there was a penalty appeal but Southwellโ€™s volley flew over the crossbar.

Dagenham & Redbridge had a chance to equalize from a dangerous free kick in the 75th minute but Ben Tomlinson was involved again as he managed to block the effort. There was even a huge handball appeal late on from the visitors but the referee decided against awarding a penalty.

Late on, Jordan Preston and Sanmi Odelusi came on for the goal scorers Edwards and Koslyo to try and solidify The Shaymenโ€™s lead. They did just that as despite pressure from The Daggers, FC Halifax Town hung on to claim all three points
