FC Halifax Town’s Cameron King felt it was a job well done at Coalville Town, as Jamie Fullarton’s men left Leicestershire with a 3-1 win.

Town fought back from an early goal to seal a comprehensive victory, with goals from Dayle Southwell, Matty Kosylo and one from a trialist completing the win.

Speaking after the workout, King said: “We didn’t play too well in the first half, we just weren’t at it and were lucky to come in at 1-1. But in the second half, we turned it around and looked a lot sharper. The boys were quality in the box and so we deserved the win in the end.”

Town made the 216 round-mile journey down to the Midlands backed by a strong Shaymen contingent, who made their first ever visit to Coalville’s Owen Street ground. The meeting also saw Scott McManus line up against Town, following his decision to leave The Shay over the summer.

McManus lined up against a Town side with only a handful of players remaining from last season. But with just a fortnight remaining until the National League season kicks off, King reflected on the strong progress that has taken place over the summer.

“It has been real hard work. Everyone feels good and I personally feel that I could do a good 90 again right now.

“For me, it’s been a real good pre-season and it’s been injury free. I just can’t wait to get started.”
