FC Halifax Town host Dagenham and Redbridge at the MBi Shay Stadium on Tuesday evening. Dagenham come into the game looking to respond to a 4-0 defeat against Tranmere Rovers, whilst the Shaymen look to build on a 3-1 win at Woking. Today’s player spotlight focuses on two attacking players that could be the key to unlocking the home sides defence.

Michael Cheek and Fejiri Okenabirhie are Dagenham and Redbridge’s joint top scorers, with nine goals each. Cheek boasts a goal every 198 minutes, slightly ahead of Okenabirhie’s 225 minutes per goal.

Cheek signed for Dagenham in June following two seasons at Braintree Town. Despite picking up 19 goals in 44 National League games for the Iron, this wasn’t enough to save Braintree from relegation. He had also previously played for National League south side Chelmsford.

Okenabirhie joined the club in 2016 from Harrow Borough. The former Arsenal Academy man has represented England C three times, scoring once in the process. John Still brought him to the club following the clubs relegation from League Two, and Okenabirhie has since grabbed 16 goals in 57 league appearances.

Throughout February, Okenabirhie grabbed four goals in as many games, with braces in wins against Torquay United and Chester, and this could’ve been a hat-trick at Torquay had he not been denied by the offside flag. With recent departures at Dagenham and Redbridge, Still has moved Okenabirhie further up the pitch, and seems to be getting the best out of his man. It will be up to Halifax’s defence to stop him in order to gain the result.

Rumours throughout February indicated Michael Cheek could be on his way out of Victoria Road, with fellow play-off chasers Ebbsfleet interested in the striker, However Still confirmed the Daggers will be holding onto their key man for the remainder of the season.
