The Vanarama National League North continues this weekend, as FC Halifax Town look to carry on a run which has seen them elevated back into the playoff positions. They face a Worcester City side who look to be in considerable danger, without a league win this year and having taken a harsh blow, losing veteran top scorer Lee Hughes to AFC Telford. The West Country outfit will be in pursuit of as many points as they can salvage ahead of their survival rivals, and Billy Heathโ€™s men must stand firm to claim all three points from one of their longer league journeys this campaign.

One man the Shaymen must get past – should he feature – is former Cheltenham Town stalwart Andy Gallinagh.

Defender Gallinagh arrived at the Victoria Ground in 2016, having previously captained National League South Side Bath City. He began his career in the youth setup at Coventry City, before moving to Stratford Town and eventually signing professional terms at Cheltenham Town in 2004.

The defender, who can also operate in midfield, gradually became a regular for the Robins and won the clubโ€™s Young Player of the Year award in 2007/08. He went on to make nearly 200 appearances in a red shirt before signing an emergency loan deal with Bath City in 2011.

Gallinaghโ€™s loan move at Twerton Park became permanent in 2012, signing a contract until the end of the season. On expiry of the deal, Gallinagh enjoyed a successful trial at Hereford United and signed at Edgar Street for a year. Injury plagued the defender in the latter stages of the campaign, and he returned to Bath City in 2013, where he went on to captain the side to the semi-finals of the 2015 FA Trophy. His Bath side were knocked out on penalties by Billy Heathโ€™s North Ferriby United, who of course went on to lift the trophy.

Gallinagh is now one of the senior figures at Worcester and will be a force to be reckoned with, with his strong and robust style of defensive play.
