In a week where FC Halifax Town moved up to second place in the Vanaramaย National League, here we look at the latest news from other clubs…

Striker Kwame Thomas has joined Sutton United on a month’s loan from SkyBet League Two side Coventry City. Thomas made his debut in the 1-1 draw at home to Gateshead, playing the full 90 minutes against Neil Aspin’s side. He started their 2-1 win against Dagenham & Redbridge on Tuesday, as Sutton pipped the Shaymen to top spot in the National League at the end of the night.

Thomas is a former England youth international, and started his career at Derby County, before moving to ‘The Sky Blues’ on a free transfer in 2016. Coventry boss Mark Robins recently reaffirmed that Thomas was still part of his first team plans.

Sutton have also signed SkyBet League One side Plymouth Argyle striker Jordan Bentley on a three-month loan deal. 18-year-old Bentley was an unused substitute on Tuesday night.

Dagenham & Redbridge have announced the signing of Leatherhead’s Chike Kandi for an undisclosed fee. The striker made sixteen National League appearances last season, for Woking, and is a former Birmingham City, Chelsea, West Bromwich Albion and Brighton & Hove Albion player. The 21-year-old is a former Wales Under-19 player, and made his debut for the Daggers as a second-half substitute in Tuesday’s defeat to Sutton.

Boreham Wood have signed former West Ham United player Blair Turgott on a three-month loan deal from his now parent club, SkyBet League Two side Stevenage. The 23-year-old made his debut in their 2-0 win over Leyton Orient on Saturday, before scoring on his second start in a 1-0 win away at Dover Athletic. Turgott, who can play as a winger or up front, has also played for Bradford City, Rotherham United and Colchester United.

Experienced winger Gary McSheffrey has joined Eastleigh from Doncaster Rovers on a short-term contract. McSheffrey, whose career has seen him play for Birmingham City, Coventry City, Nottingham Forest and Leeds United, made over 450 Football League appearances. Of those, 247 came for Coventry, the club where he started his career and returned to in 2010. The 35-year-old has started two games for Eastleigh since joining as they drew 0-0 at Guiseley before losing 1-0 to Maidstone United at home on Tuesday.

Aldershot Town have signed French midfielder Fabien Robert on a one-month loan deal from SkyBet League Two side and last season’s National League Promotion Final winners Forest Green Rovers. Robert has appeared as a substitute in Aldershot’s last two games, a 2-0 defeat at home to Dover Athletic preceding a 2-0 victory at Ebbsfleet United.

Burton Albion midfielder Ben Fox has joined Solihull Moors on a one-month loan deal. Fox has started Moors’ last two games as they lost 1-0 at home to Macclesfield Town and then 2-1 at Woking.
