Tamworth: Supporters Club Notes

Good afternoon, and welcome to you all. Although it is a little early to describe today’s clash as a “top of the table” encounter, both teams have certainly made a decent start to the current campaign.

Your Supporters Club are also striving to make the 2016/17 season a memorable one, although one of our first events may yet have to be postponed. I refer to the Fun Race Night (run in conjunction with the local RAOB) planned for the Belgrave Club on Claremont Road on Friday September 2nd. Due to circumstances entirely within our control, we are currently looking to move the event back a week or two. Obviously we need to communicate with the other interested parties before a final decision is made, so all I willย advise at this stage is to please check before you turn up. We have a further home game on August 29th, so hopefully I will be able to confirm the situation in the programme notes for this game.

In the meantime, there are plenty of ways to get involved with Supporters Club fundraising efforts. For a start, membership for the current season is now available. Forms to join will be available before the next few home games, so look for our stalls beneath the East and South Stands.

We are also repeating the popular Play the Squares and Goal-o-meter initiatives from last season. These are essentially a way of donating money to your favourite Football Club through the Supporters Club. Both include having your name (or Company name) featured regularly in the match day programme, so can be viewed as a reasonably cheapย methodย of advertising, if that’s what you are looking for. As always, speak to Committee members for further information on these topics.

In turn, a good number of our members will be sponsoring a home match later in the season. More details will follow when we decide with FCHT which game it is to be, as we usually try to pencilย our dayย in for February or March time. Last year’s sponsored match saw 34 of us well entertained before, during and after the Grimsby home match, and we hope these numbers can be matched or even bettered this time around.

Any donations towards our memorabilia stall in the East Stand would be extremely welcome. The stall really needs new stock of old match day programmes on a very regular basis, and where better for these to come from than you, the fans of the Club? Please search through your attics and garages, as we all know the required items are out there somewhere; it’s just a matter of locating them and bringing them down to the Shay. Thank you in advance for any contributions, however small.
