Tamworth: Always Looking To Score

FC Halifax Town manager Billy Heath claimed his sideโ€™s showing against Tamworth was โ€œexceptionalโ€ following a 4-0 triumph which kept the Shaymen at the top of the Vanarama National League North table.

Heath told the official website:

โ€œIt was a good performance and it was the best we have started a game all season. We were exceptional in the first ten minutes but we just couldnโ€™t get the goal.

โ€œWe got four and I am always pleased when we are scoring goals but keeping the clean sheet was the most pleasing part. The clean sheet was important but the overall performance was exceptional.

โ€œEverybody played a part and everybody looked strong. We are down to the bare bones but we have managed to get another result.

โ€œWeโ€™re at home and as soon as we get the first one, there are a lot of attacking players on the pitch โ€“ we will never be a team who sits off. We were always looking to score goals and thatโ€™s what we did.

โ€œWe came in at half-time 3-0 but what you have got to make sure is that they go out in the second half with the right attitude and desire because, to be fair, the gameโ€™s finished.

โ€œBut they did what we asked them to do and they worked really hard again. We could have had numerous goals in the end.โ€

Heath adopted an orthodox 4-4-2 formation with two out-and-out wingers with Josh Macdonald and Matty Kosylo โ€“ the former Nantwich making his first start of the season. And the Town boss was pleased with how the system panned out. He said:

โ€œBecause of the injuries that was the only way we could go really and both of them were superb โ€“ Kozzy and Macca. Macca has had a great start to the season and he is in a really good vein of form and he is confident. Kozzy has come in and he has had a good game.

โ€œWe usually play with a big guy in central midfield but Jordan Sinnott and Hibbsy were both superb. The full team were superb.โ€

The chance, therefore, arose for Richard Peniket to start the game upfront alongside top goalscorer Tom Denton, and it was the former Tamworth striker who grabbed the goalscoring headlines with a deadly double. A pleased Heath said:

โ€œHe has worked incredibly hard. The role we have been asking him to play he has done to his full ability and, today, he has come inside and played upfront off Dents and he has got two goals.

โ€œI am really pleased for him because he has got his just desserts. In other games he has worked really hard but things havenโ€™t fallen for him but the pleasing thing today was that both his goals were goalscorerโ€™s goals.

โ€œIโ€™m just pleased for him because he had the injury last season and now he looks fit and strong and got two goals.โ€
