FC Halifax Town boss Jamie Fullerton was pleased with his team’s response as they beat high flyers Sutton United 2-1.

“I’ve stressed before that there is no such thing as a poor 2-1 victory but in the manner, we won tonight, I think it showed a different side, different characteristics from Saturday and from previous victory’s we have had.”

The win takes Town to 14th place in the Vanarama National League after two impressive straight victories.

“They are second for a reason, there’s over 41 games where what they do and how they do it has brought them great success, and I think tonight they showed what they do and executed their game-plan, which meant we had to show different characteristics and skillset to survive an onslaught of blind pressure because they are very good at it.”

“When they do get go get a break-through and feel they have momentum, for us to go up the other end with our own game plan, which was also set-pieces where we thought we would get an opportunity, to score from it, creates the belief, that togetherness and momentum that we are trying to gain.”

Fullerton expressed his delight at the amount of chances that Town created throughout the match.

“Tonight, we created two or three good opportunities the first half which pleases you because the players are showing an application and an intent to put the game-plan into play and are getting rewarded,” said Fullerton to Shaymen TV.

“We’ve made changes and adapted tactically how we play, in consideration to who we are playing, like we did on Saturday and it has resulted in us getting 6 points against two teams sitting 2nd and 3rd in the league.”
