FC Halifax Town will once again meet Macclesfield Town as they play their first game of 2018 on New Year’s Day. The match will be played at the MBi Shay Stadium and is due to kick-off at 3pm.

The two sides are in good form although Macclesfield were able to get the better of Halifax when they clashed on Boxing Day. The Silkmen won the match 2-1 and came from behind after Tom Denton opened the scoring just ten minutes into the match.

Following a torrid run of form from the end of September to part way through November, Halifax have been able to rally and string together several solid performances throughout December with perhaps their most impressive results coming against Aldershot and Dover.

Town beat The Shots 0-1 away from home and made their long trip worthwhile when they took a point away from The Crabble Athletic ground in Dover on the 30th December.

Macclesfield, who are six points clear at the top of the table have not been beaten in their last five matches and have only dropped points in that period against Bromley when they drew 1-1 away from home.

Since the draw they have beaten Halifax as well as a strong Sutton United side. Macclesfield will be confident that they can extend their cushion at the summit but they will most certainly be in for a tough game at The MBi Shay Stadium.
