FC Halifax Town manager Billy Heath was very complimentary of his sides emphatic victory over Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road on Tuesday night as Adam Morgan, Tom Denton and Matty Kosylo put Town second in the league.

โ€œI thought it was a great game and a great advertisement for non-league football. I thought that both sides played some great stuff and it could have been five all at half time. Every one of our players were magnificent. The starting eleven to the boys that came on I think we deserved the win. We defended for our lives at times, and I thought that we created a lot of chances. I thought we were excellent, fantastic.โ€

Heath spoke about the importance of his team going out onto the grass, being pleased of their recent form and to play with positivity.

โ€œIt is always good to get an early goal. I said to the lads before the game to go out and enjoy it and embrace where we are and not be phased by it all. Of course, the great run of form helps, but we said to just go out and play and get on the front foot.โ€

Heath spoke about knowing the qualities and quality players that Leyton Orient have got but also spoke about his sides grit and determination in the performance that they put in against the former football league outfit.

โ€œWe know their qualities, and we know that they have got some very good players, but what we said to the players is to go out and show them what good players we are and they worked so hard for each other. That was the key, they put their bodies on the line for each other and helped each other.โ€

With not the best of luck with injury problems this season, Billy Heath spoke about having a small squad of players and how spontaneous the league can be.

โ€œI had eighteen players to choose from tonight and that’s all we have got. We have a squad of 22 with four injured and maybe a few have picked up an injury tonight but we shouldnโ€™t be competing with the likes of Leyton Orient. Well we canโ€™t compete with 95% of teams in this league. This is what football does and why everybody loves it. Because things can happen.โ€

After being promoted from the National League North last season Town will come up against teams that will make them the underdog, Billy Heath believes his side can continue to work hard as a team then they can in enjoy being the underdog more often.

โ€ In virtually every game in this league bar one other club in this league we are the underdog, simple. But we are enjoying being the underdog the minute so long may it continue and if we work hard, if the boys stick together then we should hopefully keep picking up results. But in this league as we know thing can change very very quickly and we are not getting too excited and Iโ€™m certainly not getting excited but tonight you have nights like this and we will enjoy it”

Billy Heath spoke about his sides ability to not only stop other teams playing but capitalising on their opposition too.

โ€œWhen we scored the goal in the first couple of minutes, it just gave us the belief and that boost again but I think thatโ€™s what we do. You must stop people playing you canโ€™t just allow them to play. But what we are doing at the minute I stopping other teams playing. But when we get the football we are very creative at the minute and look like there is a lot of goals in us all of a sudden.โ€

Billy Heath also looks forward to Dagenham and Redbridge on Saturday which you can see in the full interview on Shaymen TV.
