FC Halifax Town under-19βs manager Mark Trueman has said that a fast start will be crucial as his side prepare to travel to Harrogate this afternoon (2pm kick-off).
Halifax were knocked out of the FA Youth Cup in the last fixture as they suffered a 2-1 away defeat to Hartlepool United at Victoria Park.
After conceding two goals in the first 15 minutes against Hartlepool last time out, Trueman has said that his side canβt afford a similar beginning this time out.
βOur game-plan, to be really positive from the start,β revealed Trueman. βItβs hard if you are where Harrogate are in the league, having lost a few games, to concede early, itβs hard to get momentum back from there.
βItβs definitely a game that we want to win. Weβve got to be confident in our own ability. We obviously won the league last year, whereas Harrogate are new to the league this season.β
βItβs important for us to start bright, get at them and hopefully we can get an early goal and build on that.β
Trueman has said that heβs looking to transfer his teamβs work in training onto the playing field.
βItβs a good chance to turn what weβve been working on in training into practise,β Trueman continued.
βWe want to work on the things weβve been working on in training and put it into practise. I think itβs a game that I expect us to perform in and hopefully the performance will be good enough and lead to a positive result and win the game.β
βBut, weβre not going to look into the past results of Harrogate. Itβs all about us performing and learning from the last game really. Thatβs my focus. Iβm expecting us to perform well and hopefully get us the result.β
