Gateshead: Raised The Performance

Michael Collins believes Town’s 2-2 draw against Gateshead was 2 points lost after their excellent second-half performance.

“I think on reflection it was probably 2 points lost, we were disappointed with our performance first-half, we were way below the standard we have set in recent weeks,” Collins said to Shaymen TV at full-time.

Town went into half-time 1-0 after a poor performance, however the team rallied and came out in the second-half a much-improved team and caused Gateshead problems throughout the half.

“Second half we showed a bit more of what we are about, and the introduction of Kosylo made a massive difference.”

“At the start of the second half you could see we raised it 5/10 percent and it made a massive difference.”

“As a group now we have that resolve, regardless of how the games going, we always believe that that we will get something out of it.”

“I think we took the fight to them, for whatever reason in the first half we showed them far too much respect, and without being disrespectful to Gateshead, in the form we’re in we shouldn’t be showing respect to any team.”

“All in all, I’d say 2 points dropped but when you concede a goal so late in the game, you have got to see it as a point gained.”

The Shaymen now look forward to this weekend, as they take on relegation battlers Torquay.

“There’s no hangover going into Torquay, we know what we have to do, and we go down there full of confidence.”
