Gainsborough Trinity: Supporters Club

Good evening, and welcome to you all. Due to circumstances beyond our control, these notes cover Saturday’s game against Gloucester as well as tonight’s fixture with Gainsborough.

Hopefully, Gloucester will soon be able to return to play in their own city, having been exiled by flooding for a full ten years now. A move home has to be a priority for the Club. Incidentally, I would recommend the Quays area of Gloucester to any fans looking for a good night out!

Gainsborough is similarly pleasant (on a much smaller scale) Town to visit, although I haven’t yet forgiven them for defeating us in the 2011/12 season play-offs. Is it really five years ago?

Our recent home fixture versus Boston was chosen as the Supporters Club sponsored match for this season, and what a day out we had. There were certainly no complaints about the pre-match meal and entertainment, and everything seemed to go according to plan in the banqueting area. It was a shame the team couldn’t top the day off with three points, but Boston proved up to the task, so a single point had to suffice on this occasion. Thanks to all who contributed to the regular South Stand collection, where the bucket had to fend for itself due to my involvement with the sponsorship!

We would like to advise all supporters that, with effect from last Saturday, the Supporters Club Memorabilia Stall run by Dave “Crocker” Crossley has relocated from the East Stand main concourse to the ‘pop-up’ shop adjacent to the main entrance. This will give everyone attending the game the opportunity to view the goods on offer, and donate any sports programmes and other goods directly to the stall. As ever, all profits made will be ultimately passed on to FC Halifax Town.

On a sadder note, the Committee would wish to place on record our condolences to the family of long-standing Town fan Kenneth Cant, who passed away recently. He was a regular supporter from his early years until fairly recently, when ill health prevented his attendance. We would also wish Supporters Club member Laurie Plumbe a swift recovery following his recent stroke, as well as “Zeb” Coleman, who is having a stent inserted.
