FC Halifax Town will look to respond to their disappointing weekend defeat by Gloucester City by getting back to winning ways against survival fighters Gainsborough Trinity at The MBi Shay Stadium.

Joe Hanks’ late penalty separated the Shaymen and their West Country visitors in a game which left Halifax wondering how they could not take at least a point.

It is only Billy Heath’s side’s second defeat in 11 games but they will aim to get back into the playoff places with a win against a Gainsborough side in the relegation zone on goal difference to Worcester City.

Gainsborough are without a win since January and have been beaten by a solitary goal in each of their last four matches, most recently a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Tamworth at the Lamb Ground on Saturday.

Halifax are two points adrift of 5thΒ placed Darlington and have a game in hand, after the double postponement of their visit to Alfreton Town.

Matty Brown is absent with a hamstring injury suffered on Saturday afternoon, with Josh Wilde also a doubt after coming off with a knock.
