FC Halifax Town defender Martin Riley, spoke to FCHT Media’s Aidan Jones following a crucial point away from home after the 0-0 draw with Eastleigh.

It was Riley’s first game back since 18 August where he suffered a serious injury in the 1-0 win over Solihull Moors.

The centre back thought that it was a good result and a good clean sheet to take back to West Yorkshire.

“Yeah I think so it was away from home and a clean sheet. So that can never be a bad result.” Martin Riley told FCHT Media.

Riley admitted that he has been working very hard to get back playing on the pitch and ‘enjoyed’ being back out there with the rest of the team.

“I have been working a long time and really hard for this. It has been a long time coming but I have really enjoyed being back out there with the lads.” He said.

Riley, who was in the squad for the victory over Hartlepool United in mid-week knew that he was ready to play if needed.

“I have been back in training for about two weeks now, I was on the bench on Tuesday night, so I was ready to play today I was needed.”

The former Tranmere Rovers defender admitted that there were times where the team had to defend to hold the point.

“There was a couple of times where we had to concentrate and dig in.” Riley said.

“I think we can take this clean sheet and the point and move on because it is a hard trip away from home.” he added.
