The Shaymen currently occupy third place as they sit four points behind Kidderminster Harriers in second and three points above Salford City in sixth place. The win on Easter Monday helped Billy Heath’s side enormously in their quest to extend their season that little bit longer with the play-offs. Dion Charles opened the scoring before Matty Kosylo grabbed himself a brace putting the game to bed in the process.
A win on Saturday would secure play-offs for the Shaymen and if the table stays the way it is now, with Halifax finishing in third place.
Monday’s win would have helped regain confidence back in the players after going down to a 1-0 against the run of play against AFC Fylde on Good Friday, who look like they will clinch the title with just two games left to play. Morgan knows the importance of beating his former employers…
“For the team it’s a big game, they come to the Shay and hopefully we’ll win. It’s an important game, we want to get in the play-offs as soon as possible so it’s just like any other game really, we’ve got to win it. We go back full on confidence now after Monday’s victory.”
Morgan has had a tough time of it recently and his lack of game time is clearly frustrating the young striker. The 22-year-olds has been playing a bit-part role for the Shaymen in the past month and has not started a game since the 3-1 victory away at Bradford Park Avenue, in which he has come on for the final ten minutes or so in several games following that. Morgan is not enjoying his time warming the bench…
“It’s been hard, I don’t like sitting on the bench and stuff like that. Hopefully I can get on the pitch against Curzon and show the gaffer what I’m all about.”
The last time these two sides met was back in November when the Shaymen went down 4-2 in a crazy match at Tameside Stadium, which saw the home side end the game with eight men after having Alex Brown, Niall Cummins and Jamie Stott all sent off. Morgan grabbed a brace on that day for the Nash and will be looking this time to score against his former club. Joking that he was the difference the last time these two sides met…
“Just the difference is they had me in their team and I scored two. Hopefully if I do manage to get some minutes on Saturday, I can score against them.”
FC Halifax welcome Curzon Ashton to the MBi Shay on Saturday 22nd April, with kick off scheduled for 3:00pm.
