On Saturday FC Halifax Town convincingly progressed through to the next round of the F.A cup with a 5-0 win. Town will be hopeful of a similar result and score line again this weekend, as the Shaymen come up against the bottom placed side.

Bradford Park Avenue sit at the foot of the league with just three points and are yet to win a game so far this season. They will be hopeful of a change in fortunes with weekend having appointed Mark Bower as their new manager earlier on Thursday.

The two sides last met in the 2012-2013 season where Halifax secured promotion to the National League via a play off finals win against Brackley Town.

Bradford Park Avenue finished in 7th place that season on 66 points, taking 4 points off of the Shaymen that season including a 1-0 defeat at the Shay.

It’s the only time that Bradford have met Halifax since the rebirth of the Shaymen in 2008. Bradford have only been in the National league twice, having been relegated in 2013.

They have struggled to maintain any form so far this season, taking only one point from five games away from home.

History may not be on the Shaymen’s side in this fixture but recent form and circumstances surely point to a Halifax win on Saturday, if Town are serious about their promotion efforts then this weekend’s fixture is a must win game.

There will be live updates of Saturday afternoon’s clash at the MBi Shay Stadium along with player and manager interviews available on the club website and Shaymen Player HD respectively.
