Ahead of Saturdayโs visit to Boston United, we caught up with Liam King to discuss the game, the FA Cup draw, and a big week ahead for the Shaymenโฆ
Captain Liam King is happy to be returning to league action after the FA Cup 4thย Qualifying Round, but believes the draw, which has pitched the Shaymen against Dagenham and Redbridge is favourable.
โWeโd have preferred a home draw, but regardless, weโll go there and try to get a result. Weโd have liked a bigger team or a team around you, but we go as underdogs so letโs see what we can do,โ said King.
Onto the Boston game, and King is confident Halifax can make it six wins in a row at the Jakemanโs Stadium.
โBoston are a really good side, but weโre in really good form now so theyโre going to fear us. Weโre expecting a tough game, but we know we can win and weโll go there with the belief that we can win.โ
โI donโt really like to think too much about who I score against, but Iโve scored against Boston a few times! Iโm always looking to score goals.โ
With three games in a week, it will be a difficult seven days for Town, but King says the team is only taking it game by game.
โYou go into every game wanting to win and at the minute weโve got something thatโs working so weโll stick to that. At Halifax, we go into every game wanting to win it and thatโs what weโll continue to do. Weโve got the momentum and he have to keep that going.โ
And as far as the early race for promotion, the captain says the league this year is tougher than ever.
โWith five wins on the bounce youโd expect us to be higher up the table, but everyone has stepped It up this year โ if you look AFC Fylde, Harrogate, and Salford โ theyโve all invested so itโs a difficult league, but weโre Halifax Town and weโve got the belief we can do it.โ
