FC Halifax Town’s Mike Fondop-Talom is pleased to be back among the goals with his winner against Boreham Wood. The 2-1 win puts Town nine points clear of the relegation zone, with Matty Brown also getting on the score-sheet.

Fondop-Talom said, “We knew from the start that it wasn’t going to be an easy game because they are third and fighting for promotion, but the gaffer gave us some instructions that we tried to follow as much as we could and I think we did quite well.”

“I didn’t score for the last two games so for me it was really important, I knew it was going to be a tough game because I spoke to some of my advisors and they told me they are really good going forward score a lot and they are tough defensively, ” Fondop-Talom explained to ShaymenTV after the game.

“We know there are instances like that where not everything goes in the back of the net, but we just need that one goal to get things started and to get back into the goals.”

The win gives Town an excellent chance to push themselves out of the relegation battle mathematically, with a busy week ahead for the Shaymen.

“Two games to go we thought we were safe but after the loss against Fylde we were still under pressure. We knew this game would be really important in terms of winning 3 points, because the week coming will be a tough one with 3 games in 6 games, so we knew to relieve that pressure we had to win today.”
