Despite starting January off with just a point in two matches against Darlington 1883 and Stalybridge Celtic, The Shaymen go into February unbeaten in four outings as they look to make it five without defeat against Altrincham. On the other hand, Saturday’s opposition are staring consecutive relegations in the face, as they sit 17 points off Alfreton in 19thΒ – having only won a single game all season.

Q. What has happened this year with Alty? Where has it all gone wrong?

A. Appointing Neil Young, the day after relegation was a poor choice. Only 4 candidates on a shortlist with one being the person who relegated us. However, it could be attributed the fact we allowed Neil Young to over budget, and let Scott Leather and Luca go without proven replacements. Appointing Jim Harvey to clean up the mess didn’t seem to work either. Signing youth players with a smattering of experience was a risk. We would have had a decent budget to build a playoff squad without unproven kids.

Q.Β Do you think that you stand any chance of staying up?

A. No. I haven’t since a few games after Harvey joined.

Q.Β Jim Harvey was your manager at one point, what did you think to him? He did a good last year at The Shay winning the FA Trophy (Despite getting relegated), but from what I understand he couldn’t replicate that for you?

A. A good appointment. He talked sense to begin but couldn’t turn the tide.

Q. What was your thoughts on the reverse fixture between Alty & Halifax earlier on in the season?

A. I thought we played very well. And were unlucky not to win. I knew we’d draw the minute Sinnott came on. He was always likely to score.

Q. Would you take another point? Or is anything below three points simply not good enough at this stage of the season as you battle relegation?

A. I don’t think it matters, I think we need regroup like Kidderminster last season and have a club reshuffle and fresh energy around the club.

FC Halifax Town travel to Altrincham on Saturday 4thΒ February, with kick off scheduled for 3:00pm.
