FC Halifax Town will make the trip down to the West Midlands as AFC Telford welcome The Shaymen to New Bucks Head.

The Shaymen will be looking to get back on track after losing 1-0 last time out to one of the pace setters Harrogate Town. Whilst opponents Telford will be looking for three points after a 1-1 draw at Nuneaton.

Current Form:

Billy Heath’s men are on somewhat of a mini slump, having only won one in four. Consecutive defeats against fellow promotion hopefuls AFC Fylde and Harrogate Town in the previous two matches has meant Halifax have already lost ground on the early pace setters. This recent form has dropped Heath’s side down to 10th and they will be looking to get back on track in the Midlands.

Telford come into this match with the joint best defensive record in the division having only conceded five goals. The Bucks are currently on a four match unbeaten run, albeit with three of those being draws. They have only managed one victory all season and sit in mid-table.

Key-Man:

Telford have a centre-back in Gianluca Havern who knows this level like the back of hand. Havern has bags of experience in the realms of non-league, having spent four years at Altrincham during their lengthy stay in the Conference Premier. Prior to Alty, Havern had been on the books at Stockport County and Mansfield Town. The commanding centre-back has settled in well at the West Midlands club being part of a stubborn defence conceding only five goals in the seven matches. This could be a frustrating day for Halifax’s attackers as they will look to break down Havern and the league’s joint best defence.

Last Meeting:

The last meeting between these two sides came in the National League Premier in recent times, at the start of 2015. The Shaymen managed a hard-fought 1-0 victory against the league’s bottom side away from home, to move just one point off the play-off places. Matt Pearson was the hero for Halifax after a neat back heel from Marc Roberts allowed Pearson to get all the important goal. Tony Gray went close to rescuing a point for Telford late on after heading against the bar, but The Shaymen held on for the three points.
