Pete Wild praised his teamโ€™s determination after their 1-0 win against Sutton United at The Shay Stadium on Tuesday night.

Pete said; โ€œI thought that was the best we have played in long time. It was a tough pitch. We dominated the ball. We created a lot of chances. We didnโ€™t get anything. There was nothing wrong with the first goal that Tobiโ€™s scored and then we should have a pen which hasnโ€™t been given. It finally comes in the 86th minute and we get the decision which was well justified, and we get the win.โ€

The Shaymen had a goal disallowed in the fifth minute however Wild didnโ€™t see anything wrong with it; โ€œI think the goal early on was a genuine goal. If that had counted, I am sure that we would have pushed on and continued the great start we had. We did get frustrated and did lose the ball a lot in the second half by trying to force it. Iโ€™ve just said in the dressing room that we have got to learn to deal with it. We are going to have to grind out results like tonight in the final run-in and we will learn from tonight and be more patient.โ€

When asked about Jeff Kingโ€™s penalty shout in the first half he said; โ€œItโ€™s a nailed-on penalty. Definite penalty. Hes saying its normal football contact which is an absolutely ridiculous comment. Thatโ€™s football and they tried their best to stop us tonight and, in the end, we got the job done.โ€

Pete was really pleased with his team performance and praised their attitude; โ€œThe lads dug in deep, it was like a basketball game with 20-minute quarters. We kept going and plugged on and got the pen. We will look back at the end of the season and be really proud of this performance thanks to our determination. It was a great show of character and Iโ€™m sure there will be a lot more games similar to this in the final run in.โ€

Nathan Clarke won Town a penalty in the 85th minute after a high boot on him from a Sutton centre back, Pete said; โ€œ100% a pen. Not a doubt about it. You canโ€™t argue with it and the ref has done the right thing by giving us the decision.โ€

Wild was full of praise for the fans with the attendance of 1700 being one of the best on a Tuesday night so far this season; โ€œThe more fans and supporters we have here the better. We want the Shay rocking every week and they have got to be patient with us and stick with us and hope we do the business.โ€

The Shaymen manager was full of praise for Woking who they face this Saturday at 3pm; โ€œMassively tough game, they are one of the best sides we have come up against this season. They have some really good individual players. We are going to have to come her on Saturday at 100% and play as well as tonight.โ€
