FC Halifax Town were knocked out of the F.A Trophy by Halesowen Town and we caught up with Josh Staunton who said “We all have to understand its not going to be plain sailing and hopefully we can dig in and do it for the club.”

Jamie Molyneux scored for the visitors in the 49th minute to help them progress to the Quarter finals of the F.A Trophy. Josh said: “It’s always going to be a hard game and a possible banana skin. When a team with nothing to lose comes out and plays it’s a lose, lose situation for us really. If you win you are expected to win. If you lose you have egg on your face. “

Staunton told Shaymen TV : “It’s a disappointing result. In the first half I thought we were good but in the second half we were way off it. We will look back at it and hope that performance won’t affect our league form. We have 13 big games left now to try and get us in a good position to be up there for the end of the season.”

When asked about where he thought the game went wrong for the Shaymen he replied; “I thought the whole team were flat and we lacked intensity. They fell on more second balls on all areas of the pitch. We struggled to create but they made It hard too.”

The central midfielder praised the opposition for their performance; “Sometimes as a team its better playing as underdogs as you have nothing to lose. You see teams in the F.A Cup do exactly the same as what they have done here. If they pull of a result its great. It gave them more freedom and completely took the pressure off them.”

Josh said that ;“Most important thing is not to dwell on this result. 13 games left now, and the likelihood is we aren’t going to win every game. There’s going to be some highs and going to be some lows but its important that as a club we stick together. We need to keep it a level where we increase steadily rather than peaks and troughs.”

When asked about the game next Saturday against Sutton United he replied; “Every game will be tough from now. The pitch is a leveller now. Its bobbly and tricky to control it. It makes things harder. It wont just be hard on us it will be just as difficult for them. Both side have something to play for. It’s a completely different test. Do the basics well and the scruffy ones well and hopefully we will get back to winning ways.”
